With your advice, I decided what to do with the corner of my back border.
I decided to take the blocks all the way to the fence, which allowed me to keep the pattern of in-and-out consistent. If you look closely, you can see a new camellia in the center of the outsweep. You can also see the pavonia on the left, some johnny-jump-ups, four pentas, and a persian shield in the corner. I have been wanting for several years to try a border of parsley, and went ahead and tried it, with a little thyme here and there for contrast.
Perpendicular to the fence, my crinums are blooming. I'm having more blooms each year, as the plants get established.
My American Beautyberry has started flowering.
The shrimp plant has a few white flowers, underneath the salmon (or shrimp!) colored bracts.
Further down the fence, the white mistflower has started to bloom.
And at the far end, the rose of Sharon has more blooms on it than any previous year
This picture shot from a weird angle shows the balloon flower and the pony foot that is in two of my hanging baskets.
Two more hanging baskets have fan flowers in them.
The back yard is not the only are to rejoice in new or blooming plants.
I now have mandevilla in a pot by my garage. It started blooming very quickly, and looks like it has lots more buds that will open in the future. My front courtyard has a few new plants, mostly green and white.
Alternanthera KD "Snow",
a type of Euphorbia and white vinca, and
a scilla of unknown variety, with spotted leaves.
There has been some flowering in the house as well.
This year I prepared a white rose for Mom for Mother's Day,
to go with last year's red roses, that I finally finished this year. The pattern is Cynthia England's American Beauty. Happy Mother's Day, a little late!

Spectacular!(All of the above!)

Hello! I stumbled onto your blog because I'm searching for what kind of plant that scilla is - I have one myself and I've been so curious about it. Do you know anything about it?
