Happy Easter! One could say that I finished the following today because the colors were appropriate for the day - however, that is just chance!
This is Malika by Heather Sapp, a free pattern I found on Ravelry. The yarn is Sugar n Cream; I used a little over 3 balls, and did an extra 6 rows of the lace pattern, not really intentionally - I knit this during meetings and wasn't really paying attention to when I was supposed to move on to the garter stitch rows at the top. The yarn was a present in our Secret Santa gift exchange this past December, and came from Dawnell. I haven't officially taken it to the store yet, but it looks like it will hold a lot of groceries - this is the contents of two plastic grocery bags.
I've finished two other things so far this calendar year; the first is this panel that is incorporated into a banner for the knitting and crochetting group at church. I figured out my gauge with the yarn I intended to use, and then took the digital logo and in Photoshop made the number of pixels across equal the number of stitches I intended to use. It came oule a little shorter in height than I had planned, but it all worked out fine with the other blocks sewn to it.

The first thing I finished was this hat, from Lana Grossa Colore, based on a pattern called Speedy Cable Beret. I wanted it slouchy, and I wanted to make use of all of the yarn, so instead of the 4-stitch cable in the pattern, I increased from the ribbing to a 6-stitch cable, and added more rows as I then had to decrease down more at the top. I ended up with about 1 foot of yarn left.
I wanted to knit something fast, and if I hadn't basicly done it twice, it would be the fastest thing I have ever knit - bulky yarn on large needles.
On the needles now - not so large a yarn or needle size, so it may take a while.
Magrathea, a asymmetrical triangular shawlette out of the Pagewood Farms St. Elias that I got a few years ago at Threadbear when Kendra and I took a trip to Michigan. This is a very interesting construction; at times on you ware working on three different sections of the edging in one row. No promises as to how long it will take to finish!
